2015 MINI 4 Door Unveiled

The MINI family continues its refresh, with the new 4 Door introduced today.

The second body variant of the third-generation MINI lineup is also the first time the British automaker has been represented with a four-door hatch model in the compact car segment. The MINI 4 Door sees its wheelbase extended by 2.8 inches over the new MINI that helps create space for three seats in the rear. In addition to the 2.8 inches extra foot space and legroom, the MINI 4 Door also offers 0.59 inch more headroom and 2.4 inches more interior width at elbow height.

Overall length of the MINI 4 Door measures at 156.8 inches while the sedan is 68 inches wide. Compared to the standard MINI, the 4 Door is 0.43 inch taller at 56.1 inches. Of course the exterior styling of the MINI 4 Door resembles traditional MINI models, with its hexagonal radiator grille, headlights and tail lights with wide chrome surround along with the side turn indicator element and black body bordering from the new MINI.

At its market launch the MINI 4 Door will be available with four model variants: two standard gasoline and two diesel engines. The standard three-cylinder gasoline engine will sport 136 hp while the MINI Cooper S 4 Door will have a four-cylinder with 192 hp. The MINI Cooper D 4 Door will come with a three-cylinder diesel engine sporting 116 hp and the MINI Cooper SD 4 Door will feature a four-cylinder diesel mated to a six-speed manual transmission with 170 hp.

MINI USA also announced that the MINI Cooper 4 Door will be priced $1,000 over the MINI Hardtop 2 Door, so expect a starting price of $21,745 including destination.
